About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Liaison Officer (Female) to join our team in supporting early childhood, child and family health services within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in ensuring children are healthy and developmentally ready for school.

Your Impact

In this vital role, you will:

  • Work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure culturally safe and appropriate health services
  • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders including the Department of Education and community services
  • Act as a crucial link between healthcare providers and the community
  • Support families in accessing maternal and child health services
  • Advocate for clients and help resolve their concerns
  • Promote community awareness of available health services
  • Assist with coordinating appointments and home visits

  • Child Health Services support (including immunizations, health checks, and developmental services)
  • Maternal Health Services support (including antenatal and postnatal care)
  • Community engagement and advocacy
  • Cultural safety and appropriateness
  • Early childhood interventions and strategies

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander with strong community ties
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of local community organizations and support services
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally safe manner
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current Driver's License
  • Current National Police Check

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice (or willingness to work towards this qualification)
