Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and community-oriented Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Officer to join our team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, health workers, and partner organisations to deliver targeted anti-smoking initiatives. 

As the TIS Officer, you will play a key role in implementing educational programs, supporting smoking cessation activities, and fostering localised solutions to reduce smoking prevalence within communities. Your work will empower individuals and families, contributing to healthier futures. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Strong commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and respecting their cultural values. 

  • Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and social needs specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one).

  • Current driver’s license. 

  • National Police Clearance (issued within the last 6 months). 

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in delivering health education and cessation programs targeting tobacco use. 

  • Qualification in health sciences, education, or equivalent practical experience.
